And there are some of us who understand that there are certain things that should never be subject to negotiation.

You're just too lazy, impatient and vain to build coalitions. Anyone can drop out, create their own little cult or party and convince a handful of people they are standing on principle. The hard work is actually using the system to persuade people, to push (even in tiny increments) for the policies you believe in, to make deals even if you only get 70% of what you want (and return for more later), etc. You are taking the easy way out.

I mean, do I really need to explain this sort of thing to you? I don't support, for example, ANY federal social programs. But you know what? The country isn't with me on that. So the best I can do is work to turn the public against these corrupting programs as best I can and nibble away at the social welfare state at every opportunity. Sure, I could drop out of the system and start my own little party, but that wouldn't accomplish anything. Lets take the left for example. For the most part they want to ban guns. We all know that. But the public isn't with them, so they go at it incrementally and at every opportunity. They don't drop out of the system because they couldn't get their gun bans all at once. And now here they are using this Sandy Hook tragedy to get as much of their agenda passed as possible.

Sorry, but dropping out the system is taking the easy way out. Maybe it makes you feel good, but it doesn't help this nation.

So, in other words, of course, for you there is nothing that is non-negotiable.
