WASHINGTON (AP) A last-gasp effort Thursday to avoid automatic tax increases and spending cuts got off on the same convulsive, partisan tone that marked congressional attempts to resolve the impasse before lawmakers left Washington to go home for Christmas.
With a Dec. 31 deadline for an agreement to avert the so-called fiscal cliff rapidly approaching, leaders in each party demanded the other side take the initiative. The new flare-up happened despite a round of calls that President Barack Obama made to congressional leaders by phone Wednesday night from Hawaii before he boarded Air Force One to head home from vacation.

Look who’s talking......shameless.....
Right, TOTALLY unlike when the Shrieker of the House was in office .....
The lying Mormon devil has no room to accuse anyone of such bonerism (Boehnerism).
Either that, or Boehner is showing some backbone to BHO.
Seems to me that Boehner has bent over backwards to try to accomodate the ‘Progressives’. And what credit does he get? Nothing but a slap in the face for his betrayal of conservatism.
Let’s remember Nancy’s words from 2006:
“With integrity, civility, and fiscal responsibility as our guide, Democrats intend to move forward with the agenda for change on which we were elected. We will:
Make America safer by implementing the recommendations of the 9/11 commission.
Make our economy fairer by raising the minimum wage and ending taxpayer subsidies for sending jobs overseas.
Make college more affordable by cutting the interest rates on student loans.
Improve healthcare by allowing Medicare to negotiate for lower prescription drug prices and promoting stem-cell research.
Achieve energy independence within 10 years by investing America’s energy dollars in the Midwest instead of the Middle East.
Guarantee a dignified retirement by improving Medicare, protecting Social Security, and making it easier to save for retirement.
These items are not just the Democratic agenda; all of them enjoy broad bipartisan support. Democrats will work with members of both parties to secure their passage, because progress will not be victory for any one party, but for all of the American people.
Democrats do not see our congressional majorities as the end point in a long and hard-fought campaign, but rather the starting point an opportunity to work on behalf of all Americans.
The American people many Republican and independent voters among them entrusted Democrats with their hopes and aspirations for themselves, their families, and their future. We are prepared to lead and ready to govern. We will honor that trust, and we will not disappoint.”
More projection fron the a$$ clown from Nevada...
More projection from the a$$ clown from Nevada...
From the guy who said he wouldn’t work with Mitt Romney.
Says the freaking hypocrite who won’t even allow floor debate, let alone votes, on bills the House sends over.
talk about the pot calling the kettle black!!!!
while Bohner admits HE does not command a majority to give Obama what Obama demands
Reid attempts to please and kow tow to his commander’s demands, offering tax-issue pablum to the populace, via the complicit media, while trying to keeping Obama’s pledge to keep spending as he wishes.
Thanks for the laugh Harry.
He probably doesn’t even know why that’s funny.
“The lying Mormon devil has no room to accuse anyone of such bonerism (Boehnerism).”
Mormons believe that the absolute worst few in the world are called The Son’s of Perdition. I never knew one existed today until I saw Harry Reid in action. Now at least I know one Son of Perdition!
'cause nothing says "dictator" like Boehner. (snicker)
I’m disappointed the word “dictator” didn’t catch in his mormon godling throat and strangle him to death.
“....A Dictatorship of the Speaker”
If so, one of the oddest dictatorships the world has ever known.
NO executions, NO concentration camps, NO confiscatory policies, NO suppression of dissent. Clearly, not at all like Oliver Cromwell or Maximilien Robespierre.
Yet, I could see Dingy Harry being just such an individual who would overreach authority and strain cordiality to its very limits and beyond.
What the heck, Harry has ALREADY exceeded good taste and rationality.
Lighten up Harry!
Why can’t Harry Reid just dye . . . tee-shirts?
