I've had that exact thought, and agree with your entire post. Even though we know FineSwine is an arrogant liberal POS, she's not entirely stupid. She has to know that not even a majority of the liberal crazies in the Senate will sign on to this, since it includes not just "assault weapons" but also handguns. None of her Senate colleagues are going to sign onto that and risk their re-election in 2014, much less the Congress, where they're even more vulnerable.

It's part of a bandwagon approach to convince the Democrat majority in the Colorado assembly to ban semi-auto rifles and magazines, where much money is being spent (including money from Bloomberg's organization). From there, they plan to jump on the next state, and so on. State legislators are squishier than most people realize.
