I hope he can survive. The raw statistics I report here miss a hundred heartbreaking stories. Many of the places are shops and restaurants that have operated for decades or even over a century. Any failed business is bad, but there’s something especially poignant about an interview with a middle-aged or older restauranteur who talks about his grandfather starting the business when he was a young man new to America.
My wife was just talking about how tight our budget is and that we have to buy a new car. I had to remind her that 1). I am not getting a raise this year and 2). The Obama tax increases (Obamacare and hidden taxes) are going to reduce our income, not to mention that the price of everything is going up. 2013 looks gloomy.
BTW, the big scare right now has been the subsidies on milk ending and milk going up to 7 per gallon. The republicans should let it happen and blame everyone who voted for Obama and Democrats. Make a huge stink about it.
