Bulk of new films focus on guns amid NRA criticism

On the Monday after the Dec. 14 school massacre in Newtown, Conn., MPAA chairman-CEO Christopher Dodd telephoned the major Hollywood studio heads one by one. Violence in movies often comes under scrutiny following mass shootings, so Dodd wanted to touch base with his bosses, even though there was no indication that Adam Lanza's rampage at Sandy Hook Elementary School was inspired by movies (he was an intense video gamer, however).

The MPAA issued a statement pledging Hollywood's support in assisting President Obama's call for a special task force on gun violence. "Those of us in the motion picture and television industry want to do our part to help America heal," he said in his statement. "We stand ready to be part of the national conversation."

((snip))

National Rifle Association executive vp Wayne LaPierre took direct aim at Hollywood during a press conference Friday in Washington, D.C.

The MPAA issued a statement pledging Hollywood's support in assisting President Obama's call for a special task force on gun violence, in return for the continued immunity from the consequences of their evil intent the President, Democrats, and the main stream media have given them so far.

Seeking a Friend for End of the World was pretty good and it hardly had any guns at all.
But on the other hand everyone still died.

Leftists are pushing their latest knee-jerk reaction to gun violence in the form of another ban on so-called, "assault weapons" believing, apparently, that that stop gun violence. Less than 2% of gun crimes involve "assault weapons". Thus, and logically, the remaining 98% of gun crime will continue unimpeded -- that's ONLY 98% assuming, of course, that the ban has any measurable or realized affect.

Why does America's political left drive itself to distraction seeking the root social causes for every societal ill in existence, except, of course, for that of gun violence? Would seeking the root causes of gun-related crime focus too much attention on the graphic violence meted out in ever-greater measure by television, movies and other media?

Critical thinkers will ponder these very real questions and seek meaningful countermeasures while those too intellectually lazy to expend a scintilla of rational thought will absorb the fallacy that we need a ban on weapons that are neither the cause or the means of the violence. Meanwhile, innocents will continue to die.

***The MPAA issued a statement pledging Hollywood’s support in assisting President Obama’s call for a special task force on gun violence.***

I remember 1968 when there was no rating system and a kid could go to most movies.

Then Bobby Kennedy got killed. Movies, comic books, pulp books. toy guns, TV shows were all blamed for America’s violence.

Comic books and pulp books changed their covers. Toy guns disappeared. TV shows, mild by today’s standard, dumbed down to kiddie shows and movies on TV were butchered to remove violence. The femenization of boys began.

But MOVIES? In order to stave off Federal regulations they said they would give films a rating system, the first was G M R X. The Government agreed.

HOT DA*N! The Hays code was dead! Print ‘em if you got ‘em. Movies became more violence and sex drenched. some mild movies were recut and reshot to add violence and sex. Rate them R and market them to pre-teens!

It has gotten worse since.

I remember when the TV scum found a way around the ban of killing and violence on TV.

It was a space opera "Battlestar Galactica", the bad guys were human resembling machines, but being "machines" it was OK to blow 'em apart onscreen, they weren't human or animal and there was no "killing". Pound sand censors.

Smoking decreased substantially after Hollywood banned most images of smoking.

When the left continues to dominate world politics, by as much as they do, then where’s the actual surprise in the amount of attacks that they continue to practice against anything conservative and everything conservative?

Hollywood is REALLY going to buy into the obama program by making dozens of movies about kids being shot up by 'assault weapons.'

I'm sure they'll throw in a few massacres of muzzlem kids to take care of the total Tea Party as haters, too.

And then there will be the rabid conservative mom, who's own kids are victims of a mass shooting, who flips to the dark side and becomes a leader in the gun grab. She runs for office amid a groundswell of support. Ad nauseum.

Then there will be the evil gun manufacturer seen counting his pile of money and praying for another shooting so sales will go up.

And of course the gun shop owner who secretly goes on a killing spree to pump up sales.

And the evil Republican politician who demands the right of everyone to own any weapon the military uses with film of him laughing hysterically while he shoots things up in his free time.

In some of these, the union guy whose kid is shot will become the a leader of the gun grabbers. This requires the union guys to burn down a few gun shops and kill some owners. They will also kidnap the owner of a big gun maker and hold him until the promised to stop making guns and demanding that all of his fellow greedy industrialists do the same.

Scenes of ammo warehouses exploding will be common.

Oh, they're going to have a ball with this.

You already know what kind of flic is going to win the awards next time around.

Social engineering by film. You've got you assignment Hollywood. Get a move on! This is the best of both worlds. You can show shootings in slow motion with blood and guts flying BUT you can claim to be against it at the same time. All for the sake of the kids, right? And if they make a few billion bucks, that's even better.
