Had to look up "Harrison Bergeron". Never read that short story in school.

Bergeron wasn't "crushed" by the government: he was shotgunned for failure to comply.

He had to wear scrap metal before he was shotgunned. That counts as crushed in my book. I first read it for English class in high school. From what my colleagues tell me, they still have students read it.
