Taking telephone calls and asking ‘to whom did you wish to speak’ probably wouldn’t have placed her into a position where the question of her mental health ever arose. She would hardly have told her employer at interview, btw, I attempted suicide twice when I was overseas...I bet she had mastered a beautiful english accent and that was all that mattered.
Some of the comments here aggravate me considerably. Arguing that a suicide attempt makes us worthless in our profession?
I know wonderful women who have had difficult periods in their life when they wanted to escape the pain in their life, and how they managed to overcome those difficulties.
Arguing that we are ‘damaged’ beyond all repair is exactly the thing that drives people in despair to know tha they will never be ‘ok’ and that there is no hope.
