(Reuters) - An international peacekeeper killed three other peacekeepers before killing himself in the Darfur region of Sudan, the U.N.-led international peacekeeping force (UNAMID) said on Friday.
The shooting happened at a UNAMID site in Mukjar in West Darfur on Thursday, UNAMID spokeswoman Aicha Elbasri said, adding that the gunman had shot himself and another comrade had been wounded.
The African Union-United Nations force initially had said the peacekeeper killed four comrades. "The mission is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident," Elbasri said, declining further comment.
Despite the presence of the world's largest peacekeeping mission, fighting between Sudan's armed forces and rebels has continued, alongside banditry and tribal clashes, since the conflict erupted in 2003.
In a separate statement, UNAMID said it was investigating whether the Sudanese air force had bombed this week two areas in North Darfur as reported by local sources.
It sent a patrol to Shangil Tobaya to verify reported bombings but had been denied access by the Sudanese army, UNAMID said, adding that civilians had fled the area.

I wonder if Islam was somehow involved in this incident...
The religion of Peacekeeping...
Clearly this person did not understand the job at all.
My first thought was “Muzlim workplace violence”
My second thought was “Were they raping or pimping out kids?”
Either way that’s a hell of an impression for the oh so wonderful UN to be leaving on anyone. But their history makes those thoughts a reality.
A prayer for any innocents involved.
No arms for UNaccountable bureaucratic “peacekeepers”.
Outlaw Peacekeepers - NOW!
It’s what I guess you call a “four-fer”. Note tagline
You win
Common sense would tell anyone that if after 10 years and the world's largest peace keeping mission the conflicts still continue, the mission is a failure and they should pack up and go home.............unless..........it is in someone's best financial interest to continue with the farce just like the "war on drugs" and "war on poverty" and "war on crime" in the USA. As soon as the US government declares war on something, it is almost a certainty that we will have more and an unending supply of it because it is a revenue stream and source of power for the political criminals.
The ultimate “peacekeeper”. He brought his comrades and self to the ultimate “peace”. Probably the reprobate was influenced by his moozlum peacefulness.
