Didn’t he also marry a much older woman when he was draft age?
At that time married men were exempt from the draft. How convenient.

Romney was a true draft evader, even accepting a deferment not available to black men, later switching all that for his presidential run to ""I was supportive of my country," Romney said. "I longed in many respects to actually be in Vietnam and be representing our country there, and in some ways it was frustrating not to feel like I was there as part of the troops that were fighting in Vietnam.""

Newt never served, but was never a draft evader, as his father said, Newt was never military material.

Dr./professor Gingrich was already married by 1962, already had children by 1963 and had his Bachelors degree by 1965 and his PHD by 1971. Even in 1971 he was diagnosed by the draft board as having flat feet and nearsightedness. He isn't someone that was ever a part of the draft dodger efforts.
