Abe Lincoln and FDR neither were above going outside their lines to get their way, were they?
While Lincoln's goal in the film was to get the 13th Amendment outlawing slavery passed, he did it for many reasons very well explained in a splendid cabinet scene where Lincoln says the Emancipation Proclamation is a War Powers Act that may be subject to judicial review and possible reversal after the conflict ends. Yet the main reason for passing the amendment being it was the right thing to do. No man should ever own another human being as property.
Now, FDR main goal in Hyde Park on Hudson is keeping his women in line to share him sexually. He does host the King and Queen of England, but even this royal visit is used to quell the stormy waters of Roosevelt's love life with numerous women other than Eleanor.
I am sure these films were not made to show the difference between Republicans and Democrats but they starkly do so: Republicans do the right while Democrats believe they are above the norms of society.
And if any Democrat, Republican or Freeper says I am reading too much into these films, I offer up JFK and Bill Clinton.
Well if I were male and married to Eleanor or Hillary... Let’s just say I would have never married either. JFK— just another democrat that can’t keep it in his pants....
This one is coming out soon -- probably going right to video. No clue what these guys were thinking about, but I guess they are trying to exploit the whole Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter thing.
