Through New Year's Eve, your friends at Puck Daddy fondly recall the Year in Hockey for 2012, such as it wasn't. The NHL All-Star Game's Breakaway Challenge competition has become the League's home for prop comedy, and Chicago Blackhawks star Patrick Kane didn't disappoint. With Eminem's "Superman" playing over the ScotiaBank Place speakers, Kane put on a cape and Clark Kent glasses (in complete violation of the character's rules, mind you) during one of his shootout attempts a concept he came up with 24 hours before the event in Ottawa. Yet when it comes to the Top 10 most memorable images of 2012 in hockey, Kane didn't make the cut. What, no Tim Thomas at a Tea Party rally?
I am enjoying a full AHL season in Hershey, PA.
Based upon the response on this thread, it looks like a lot of hockey fans share your view. Mrs. shove_it is from Lebanon, PA and was a rabid Bears fan. It’s too bad AHL coverage is so spotty on Tee Vee so we could support the Bears too. There is no minor league team anywhere near us to root for during the strike.
I will be a Red Wings fan as long as there is an NHL Red Wings team in Detroit or wherever (hopefully Detroit will be liberated from the commies some day in my lifetime).
Living in the Cradle of American Hockey, Minnesota, we have plenty of alternatives to the NHL. High school and college hockey suit me just fine.
We even have the real Hockeytown. Warroad.
We don’t get much ice time on the Florida Space Coast...
;o(
Our local youth hockey association has benefited from having a rapid influx of “very” experienced assistant coaches.
Sometimes you don’t need ice time when you don’t see snow :)

Well I mean there was 1/2 a season + a Cup in 2012, but that seems like ages ago.
NHL cancels games through January 14, enters the danger zone; next cancellation the season?
