There’s No Revolt, No Coup,’ Say House Republicans (GOP unites to raise taxes)
National Review ^

“It’s important that we protect as many American taxpayers as we can,” Boehner told reporters. “Our Plan B would protect American taxpayers who make $1 million or less.” For Americans making more than $1 million, the tax rate on their income over that amount would rise from 35 percent, the current rate, to 39.6 percent.

Boehner hopes to bring his “Plan B” legislation to the floor later this week, and plans to update members on the schedule Tuesday night. In the meantime, he said, Republicans should argue that they’re working hard to protect current tax rates.

The Tuesday meeting began at 10 a.m., and the mood was quiet and somber, sources say. Boehner wasn’t cheered or warmly embraced, but he was given respect and time to explain his strategy. “He was his usual self,” says a House staffer familiar with the session. “He wasn’t emotional; it was an update.”

This is Act 4 in the GOP production we see over and over again. This is when the little GOP punks get together and have a cheerleading session and finish twisting the arms of conservatives. I really detest about 75% of GOP House Members, including Mr. go along to get along; the feckless Paul Ryan.

Mark any Republican who votes to raise taxes as a target for a primary challenge.

We need spending cuts so massive that both sides will cry. This won’t happen with any compromise legislation. Let the Fiscal Cliff happen.

The White House makes no concessions. They patiently wait for Mr Bonner to do all the bending.

Yes, I know how to spell his name correctly.

Not a single word on a budget surplus that matches, year by year, any tax increases. It’s like Obama’s Jedi mind trick finally worked and the RINO GOP leadership had the word ‘cut’ removed from their brains.

Pathetic.

“It’s important that we protect as many American taxpayers as we can,” Boehner told reporters.

If you want to protect ALL the taxpayers, then stop devaluing the currency by printing up new money to fund government. If you want to save America, then don't raise the debt ceiling.

If you check out DU you will see that they HATE what Obama seems to be currently proposing (raising the level to $400,000 etc.).

They are kicking him all over the place.

Let’s face it, the republican party is NO longer. We conservatives need to no MUST, remove them from office as quickly as possible, one by one or en-mass. They MUST GO. When Bonehead Bohner was allowed to immediately remove our representatives from their respective committees when they did NOT agree with his agenda, Bohner went agains’t the people who elected HIM and OUR representatives. Just because someone does not agree with your agenda does not give you the athourity to load the deck in your favor, THAT is NOT democracy.

I am likely staying home in 2014. There is not point to even participating in this charade.

They passed a bill two years ago, and it seemed to meet the criteria of the anti-tax pledge. That bill sets the tax rates, and on January 1st, in accordance to that bill, the tax rates will return to the Clinton-Era tax rates, for all taxpayers.

Any bill passed that takes affect after January 1st, and that sets any tax rates lower than what they will otherwise be on January 1st, is a tax cut.

I don’t think it is good policy to make the tax rates MORE progressive, but it isn’t a tax increase.

If we pass a bill on January 1st that lowers the tax rate for all earning up to 1 million dollars, that will be a tax cut for EVERY TAXPAYER. Because even those who earn more than 1 million will have their first million taxed at a lower rate.

The fault is those who in 2001 passed a tax bill which expired in 2011, and those in 2010 who passed a tax bill which expires in 2013.

I have a feeling those who earn more than a million dollars would prefer the “Plan B” bill to NOT passing anything.

Tax increases are automatic per 2003 budget reconcilation (less than 60 votes in senate.
Then those expired 2 years ago 2010 and were extended for two years till now.

So claiming that automatic tax increases are being passed by the R house when they are not is only going to help Obama.
(Bohner helped shoot himself by using this same false terminology)

They are not going to revolt for extending tax cuts.
