Senator Coats, (Indiana)

In light of recent events, I hope that you do not succumb to the mob mentality that the 2nd Amendment need to be thrown aside as the “End All” to school or mall violence that has been over reported by the news as some sick and twisted fantasy in order to push an agenda.

Although the school shooting is an absolutely evil act, there are far more children being killed in the US by abortion. A nation cannot stand by turning their heads and watching these innocent souls be cast aside like trash.

The 2nd Amendment was for the intent of securing the US Citizen the freedom, in that, the government would be check in check and foreign aggressors would be deterred. I do not support the actions of these individuals, but had they not access to 24/7 news coverage glorifying these acts and the weapons they chose - they would have found other means to carry out their actions. The Rwandan Genocide in1994 saw 800,000 massacred by machetes. The same could hold for home made or stolen explosive, as was seen in Timothy McVeigh.

Taking the Right to Bear Arms away is not the solution. Establishing values of norms that made this nation great - and bringing back exactly that and demanding US Citizens stop this individualistic mindset and begin to act and treat others with respect - and once in awhile, stop and help others that are different rather than casting them aside will do much more good than harm.

Citizen volunteers that have been retired from Law Enforcement and military - volunteered -cleared parents should also fall in this category - should be trained and placed in schools that are armed just like they do in Israel. Give those that serve this institutions a tax break and make the process a quiet and valid one. We, as Citizens, need to become more involved in our schools, out children lives, and those around us. We are a diverse nation, but we are a nation of one. Let’s keep it that way and stop targeting the US Constitution and the Bill of Rights - and get back to the traditions that made us great in the first place.

Good Day,

Joseph White

Add to those numbers euthanasia by monetary inflation (robbing the old and responsible) and Obamacare, and now you're really getting somewhere. Much harder to track though.
