This weekend set a new record for all single-day background check submittals in Colorado for potential gun purchases, according to Colorado Bureau of Investigation officials.
The first day after news of one of the worst mass shootings in America, when a gunman killed 20 children and six staff members at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., requests to buy guns in Colorado surged to more than 4,200.
Exact figures weren't available Monday morning while submittals were being processed, CBI spokeswoman Susan Medina said.
But Medina said Saturday's figures exceeded the previous greatest number of background checks on Black Friday this year, when 4,028 were processed.

I’ll be visiting my local gun shop this weekend.
Hubby wants Santa to bring him a new rifle.
Santa has been good to me this year.
Everytime I go Christmas shopping, it seems like I find another gun for me in the back seat when I get home.
Ah well.....La La Loopsy isn’t an endangered species yet
LOL! The season of miracles!
If our elected officials would simply support and defend the Constitution we wouldn’t see these spurts.
I caught a blip on the NWCN station that in Oregon the standard 15 minute wait on background checks was taking over 4 hours on long rifle purchases.
Cabela in Baton Rouge sold over 1300 guns on Sat and roughly
500 plus today !
Guns and Ammo are flying off the shelves !
Did my paperwork for my AR Thursday night before all this started. Didn’t pick it up until Sat AM (long story). Got to store 5 min after opening - parking lot full, every employee busy with customers. Fortunately I only had to see the cashier since my rifle was waiting for me behind the counter. I’ve broken it down, cleaned and lubed it... Probably won’t get to go out and shoot it until this weekend. And yes, it is one of those bad “assault rifles” {snicker} with an adjustable stock, flash suppressor, and 30 round removable magazine.
Too late....
Okay, we'll stay in the 20th & 21st cent. here. I think Waco may qualify as # 1.
When did Cabela open a BR store?? I lived in BR from 1965-1994 and there wasn't one. Opening a store there was certainly a smart move, given the major hunting/fishing population in south Louisiana (and north Louisiana, for that matter).
Technically Gonzales La .
In the last 6 years .
There is a outlet mall too
