Truly a hero. However, he was originally awarded the Distinguished Service medal for his actions in Italy during WW2.
It was upgraded to a Medal of Honor by Bill Clinton in the 90’s.
In 2000, his Distinguished Service Cross was upgraded to the Medal of Honor.
