The second amendment was written so as to allow an armed population the ability to overthrow a government gone rogue..
with that in mind, any and every weapon our military possesses, we as citizens have not only the right, but the duty to possess...
this includes so called assault rifles, machine guns, grenades, mortar and cannon, tanks, armored personnel carriers, aircraft and even warships ( provided you can afford it )..
keep in mind that during the time of the revolution, our fledgling government LEASED warships and cannon from PRIVATE owners..
So, we had far greater freedoms under the king than we do now...
