A lot of Brits found other places to live back in the 70’s over high taxes.
Sean Connery lived in Spain, Julie Andrews in the US, Benny Hill had an address in France to avoid the British tax rates at that time.
The Beatles put up with high taxation but did a song about it called “Taxman” with lyrics like “one for you, nineteen for me......”
That does not seem too unreasonable :^)
