The counter is that those who create gun free victim zones are the enablers of mass murder.

The Pearl (MS) High school shooting in 1997 was the first of the recent phenomenom of school shootings. I remember it well, because one of the students who was wounded is my cousin's boy. In this case, the shooter was stopped by Coach Joe Myrick, who kept his Model 1911 Colt .45 in the glove compartment of his pickup truck. He caught up with the shooter while he was reloading, and disarmed him.

Naturally, the MSM and the school powers-that-be learned the wrong lessons from this encounter. They decided that stronger security measures, metal detectors, and zero tolerance for any type of weapons was the right answer.

They were wrong.

I believe that if more members of the faculty had the opportunity to defend their campus as Coach Myrick did, the rash of school shootings would disappear.

Outcomes like that need to get a lot more publicity, but the MSM filter is the usual problem. The NRA needs to come out hard about the abolition of gun free victim zones so that teachers and staff can defend themselves. As long as we are fighting the gun banners with their rules of just how many more restrictions there will be, we will lose.
