They had the complicity of decades of Conservative politicians who said ONE thing to get themselves elected, THEN went to DC and DID something else!
And this is the utter folly of allowing political office-holding to become a career choice instead of a civic duty. Many of our "conservative" politicians are only interested in re-election so they can continue to enjoy all the perks, benefits and privileges that go with the office.
Many are only in DC to lobby for special interests (aka, the people who fund their election campaigns.) Many have no core principles, unlike the Marxist Left which has the destruction of capitalism "by any means necessary" as its heartfelt goal.
