TO MI FROM LA: RIGHT TO WORK LAWS CAN BE DEADLY!! (2009 Murder)

A Killing in Louisiana (Ref the 1976 passage of Louisiana's Right to Work Law)

“Jim Leslie has been murdered!” I yelled to my wife Lowayne who was still in bed. “He was shot in a motel parking lot in Baton Rouge!” “Surely not,” she said, as she joined me in the kitchen. “Yes, it’s true.” We huddled around the radio and listened to the rest of the alarming story. The reporter said that the early indications were that a hit man with ties to organized labor had killed him. Leslie was the architect of the public relations and advertising campaign for the Louisiana Right-to-Work Law—which was strongly opposed by labor forces in the state—that cleared the Louisiana Senate just a few hours before he was killed.

They’re already slinging death threats at Rick Snyder.

I don't understand why the workers are complaining. We already have minimum wage laws to protect wages, and the trial lawyers have the work accidents covered. We don't need unions anymore.
Without the union, these people will get a nice increase in their wages. There won't be any more union extortion. They'll be able to keep their union dues for themselves. The union big wigs will have to find a way to pay for their own mansions and luxurious lifestyles.

This is a win for the not-want-to-be-union-members as well as the companies they work for.

Merry Christmas Michigan! You're free!!!

Nah? He was probably killed by that militant, evil tea party, not by the loveable, law-abiding union! sarc/off

That's why, in the U.S., they're referred to as "union THUGS." They have barbaric personalities.

Why are Trumka and Hoffa Jr. and their ilk still walking around? Seems to me that their karma would dictate otherwise.

I don't understand why the workers are complaining.

They are low information workers (like low information voters), the union bosses control 'em like Serfs on the Estate, and the Rat politicians control 'em like the Negroes on the Plantation.

Union dues have made these guys multimillionaires. They can afford an entire army to protect them and their ill gotten gains.

I was unfamiliar with the murder but on search, this came up:

http://forward-now.com/?p=4383

It says the murder was related to his fight against corruption. Notably against D’artois the Dem Public Safety commissioner who worked to put the kibbosh on the LAGOP back in the late 60s.

I’ve come to realize people like those you’ve mentioned along with Pelosi and Reid live long lives enjoying their power and the wealth that comes with it because it is all they will ever have, once they pass on, that’s it, and they will spend eternity in a place that’s quite hot contemplating the harm they’ve caused!

I take comfort in God because I’d rather go my entire life in fear of God and have Him turn out to be a lie than end up having Him be true and spend eternity in hell!

Hi Bogey780,

Thanks for the critical eye on this.... I had to do a bit more digging... I posted the first article I came across which mentioned the murders and did not read the article all the way through. I had remembered the high profile reporting from Baton Rouge at the time murder (I was 14) which related the right to work passage and ran with the first confirmation of the murder I found.

While Commissioner D’Artois of Shreveport was arrested as five different people testified he had asked them to kill Jim Leslie (D’Artois died of a heart attack before he went to trial), the actual trigger team was never found, and no one was ever convicted.

D’Artois’s corruption web mentioned in the book and other articles tied him directly to New Orleans Mobster Carlos Marcello, who had direct money ties to Jimmy Hoffa and the Teamsters. (http://www.trutv.com/library/crime/gangsters_outlaws/family_epics/marcello/15.html)

Given union ties of D’Artois’s mob benefactor and the other union violence & murders which took place during the lead up to the passage of RTW in Louisiana (which are also mentioned in the original article I posted), I still won’t back off on the big union angle on this one. — Perhaps D’Artois got too greedy for the mob and was left holding the bag.......
