well, the thing is for immigrants to get integrated into the culture and for that the culture should be strong.
For instance in France, outside the arrondisements, the French culture is very strong
in Germany you MUST speak German fluently to get a job there and the culture in parts is strong -- in the east it's just a mob culture imho, but not in the south.
The problem with the UK is that it has degraded its own culture to the extent that it no longer has a strong culture to influence

I think that's fair comment, and I further think it was WW1 that started the decline. Before 1914, Britain was a patriotic, self-confident country, proudly imperialist, proudly expansionist, and economically very vibrant. The carnage of the war caused us to check. If the policies and assumptions of our culture were so good, how come they led us to a disastrous war that cost over a million lives?
