Good article, should be read by all. People think it is easy to transform our infrastructure, but the infrastructure we have has been built up over 110 years. I believe we could rapidly replace our infrastructure if is was a genuine emergency, like we were imminently running out of coal. But otherwise we must be satisfied by steady but long term improvements.

We are switching over, but not because of government mandates, or at least not exclusively. We are switching from coal to natural gas found/recovered by fracing. On private land of course. There are 3 relatively new such wells within a mile or so of my apartment complex. One of those is only about 6 months old, the others not much older. There is a 4th a little farther away near where I eat lunch.

Of course Obama and the Watermelon crowd, (green on the outside, red on the inside) are doing their worst to stop fracing. They really don’t want us generating electricity, period.
