Navy Cancels Nativity over Atheist Complaint (Bahrain)

The Navy directed service members serving in Bahrain to cancel and dismantle a “Live Nativity” after receiving a complaint from a military atheist group who said the manger scene endangered Americans serving in a Muslim country and violated the U .S. Constitution.

The chaplain at Naval Support Activity (NSA) Bahrain confirmed to Fox News the nativity scene was cancelled – but referred any further comments to the NSA’s public information officer.

The “Live Nativity” was a long-standing tradition at NSA Bahrain that featured the children of military personnel dressed as shepherds, wise men, along with Mary and Joseph. It was part of a larger festival that included a tree lighting, Christmas music and photographs with Santa Claus and a camel.

But the Military Association of Atheists and Freethinkers objected to the Nativity and filed a complaint with the Navy’s Inspector General. They argued the Nativity promoted “Christianity as the official religion of the base.”

There is NOTHING in the Constitution that calls for a separation of church and state. NOTHING!

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof

That's it! They can't make laws establishing a religion. That was fundamental to the Framers, as the Church of England was an arm of the throne.

The Church and State theory is garbage and needs to be discussed and dismissed. It doesn't exist.

It seems the "danger from the Muslim host country" was bogus.

I'm not a believer, but these people make me sick.

Atheists do not understand love among parents and children ~ they themselves murder their own before they are born, and if one should slip out they make his or her life miserable for as long as they can.

Frankly, atheists give every sign of being too sociopathic to be allowed to exist in normal society.

Tell the atheists that it’s a retelling of a historical docudrama, and that’s an order. Now shaddup!

That Joke my Dad made when he was in the Marine Corps in the 70's is still relevant today.

The Marine Corps is undeniably a Department of the Navy.

The MEN'S Department.

Cancelling the event promotes atheism, which is just as much a religion to these guys as mine is to me.

“The Navy is a bunch of wimps. I have no respect for them now.”

They’ve had a long and (un)distinguished tradition of leading the politically correct gang of toads for quite a few years now. Of course, the Army and AF are not far behind.

The Marines are doing a fine job of trying to hold out, but one can only resist total idiocy for a limited amount of time before the smell overcomes all resistance.

And now Atheism is the official religion of the base, in appeasement to the Islamic Supremacist host nation.

So much for FREE THOUGHT. Hypocrites.

This is just silly. Who’s voice matters most?
If I protest the atheists protest does that cancel out their protest?

I just read on FB from someone who lived in Bahrain that the muslims never have complained about the Nativity and that stores in Bahrain sell Christmas decorations. It is nothing but the atheists trying to destroy Christianity.

Look at the webiste:

http://militaryatheists.org/

They are promoting atheism, which is a religion, in the military. Why is that okay but they want to silence Christians? Evil scum is what they are and they do not belong in our military.

I am furious over this! I have emailed the Navy and Sen Infoe (armed services committee). If we don’t fight back, this will only get worse.

Congress shall enact no law establishing or forbidding the practice of religion. Since there are no laws on the books explicitly forbidding a live manger scene, we have proof that political correctness is the reason for the cancellation.

The actual reason for not having a Federal role in the promotion of religion was the considerable differences between the denominational identifications from one State to the next. The Founders did actively encourage, however, the promotion of religion in the States.

The ACLU (read Fabian Socialist) attack on all forms of organized religion is certainly not American. But in understanding the undermining of American culture, you need to recognize their diabolic victory in promoting our cultural demise, in extrapolating from a tolerance of dissent; to an absolute veto by dissenters, over the freedom of the majority to pursue their Faiths in religious ceremonies in public places.

See, for example, Leftwing Word Games & First Amendment Guarantee.

This has been a significant factor in undermining our sense of multi-generational purpose.

I’m sure the NSW guys might slightly disagree with that. A popular poster here was once one. You should tell that joke to him.

“Torpy said he is pleased with how the Navy handled the matter.”

Yeah, I bet he is. We have become a nation lead by Cowards! When I was in the Marines, “Torpy” the “military atheist”, would have been considered a trouble maker and consequently bad for the good order and morale of the military and drummed out with an Undesireable Discharge.

I don't believe in Buddha or the Hindu gods, yet I am not bothered by people who do, or their putting up little shrines to them.

I don't think that these people who object to Christianity at every turn are really atheists. I think they DO believe in God. They just hate Him, and that is what drives them.
