Its been 200 years since the United States kicked off a shooting war with Great Britain, but that nation may be wondering if were looking to start another scrap.
What else could be signified by rumors that Vogue editor Anna Wintour could be our next ambassador to the Court of St. Jamess?
One can only imagine befuddled, monocled British public servants on the phone with the White House: Dear Lord, is it something we said?
Wintour is most famous for a fictional film depiction of her life, The Devil Wears Prada, in which she was ... the devil. She insists on sitting separately from other journalists at fashion shows. She cannot bear to be at parties for more than 20 minutes. Its said her employees are not allowed to ride elevators with her, or start conversations.
As for tact, Wintour once said of Minneapolis, she could only kindly describe most of the people I saw as little houses. I hope Londoners are getting plenty of exercise, and laying off the bangers and mash.
If these jobs matter so little that they can be handed to whoever can corral the most cash, they dont need to exist. They shouldnt go to people famous for an inability to play well with others.
If you can enrage Minnesotans, we dont need you representing the United States on the world stage.

From the way he acted, he should have been dropped off in Berlin.
He looks like her butler in that pic, except that he undoubtedly has miniscule knowledge of etiquette and appropriateness.
Yep.

Well, I find it ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS.
I’m sure Edie and Patsy will be live in guests the whole time she is there.
Maybe we could petition Husseino to send Michael Savage to the Court of St James, instead?
Yet another savvy Obama appointment; when terror strikes or military force is called for, get the woman who knows lipstick.
The Brits hated Joe Kennedy and he was later replace by John Gilbert (Gil) Wynant a former two term Republican Governor from New Hampshire. The Brits loved Wynant (who was kicked out of the Republican Party due to affection for the New Deal). FDR sent him to England so that he couldn’t run against him. Wynant had an affair with Churchill’s daughter Sara and, after returning to the US after the war, shot himself in despair over losing her. I’ve often wondered if Ayn Rand had him in mind when she created the Gail Wynant character in “The Fountainhead”, who also shot himself in the head over a woman among other things.
