Jerry Pournelle has long excoriated “Social Science” as one of the “Voodoo Sciences”; that is, a “discipline” that claims to be science that is simply not science at all, never was, never will be.
Jerry Pournelle is correct. My BA is in Social Science Studies and it was a hodge-podge of psychology, political science, history and worst of all, some pap called sociology. I got my MA in American History and now I do my best to introduce college kids to proper history in my Humanities classes. My classes are long on history and short on social science or art....
