"It's Like Caligula Making His Horse a Senator"
First lady Michelle Obama is reportedly behind the push to award top Obama campaign fundraiser and Vogue editor Anna Wintour with a European ambassadorship specifically to France sources have revealed to The Daily Mail.
A State Department insider told the British paper that Wintour is under consideration for a diplomatic post.
Anna Wintours friends have expressed an interest in making sure that she is nominated to become an ambassador to a major Western European nation, the insider said, according to The Daily Mail. I have had this confirmed from a friend in the political office at the White House. I am also told there is only a slight chance Wintour will end up in London
Paris is her number one choice. I gather Ms Wintour finds the Paris house and grounds particularly spectacular, the insider added
The Daily Mail notes that Wintours infamous reputation as an ice queen with an insatiable need for perfection could present problems in the world of diplomacy.
She presides over the fashion business with the imperial hauteur of a Prussian general and expects instant, unquestioning obedience, The Daily Mail quoted Toby Young, a British journalist and author of How to Lose Friends and Alienate People.
Its hard to imagine a personality less suited to the world of international diplomacy. She left school at 16 and has been working in fashion ever since. Obamas chauffeur probably knows more about international relations than her. Its like Caligula making his horse a senator.
The British paper credits Wintour with the first ladys transformation early in her husbands first term from awkward lawyer to fashion icon. Vogues March 2009 issue was called the Michelle Obama Edition. The issue placed the first lady on the cover and offered an eight-page interview with her, complete with photos by Annie Leibovitz.
Wintour also reportedly influences Mrs. Obamas wardrobe.
Anna makes Mrs. Obama feel glamorous, an administration source told The Mail.
And not Andre Leon Talley?
What's up with that?
It's really a missed opportunity to go with Wintour.
Is she even American?
Come to think of it, why not Joan Didion?
She's got the hairstyle. She's got the glasses. She's got the edgy point of view. And she could really use some cheering up now.
Does this woman ever smile? Her life must be hell.
Are you telling me I dont know an opportunity to have a free ride in Gay Paree, uh I mean a Fasion Ikon when I see one!
Would laugh my a$$ off if the British would fail to receive or acknowledge her. After all the slights from the Food Stamp President and the dyke-like Moo I think they would be more than justified to reject her.
gads....the woman is so naturally unattractive. Somehow, on occasion she manages to look a whole lot better, but oy vey....the natural moocher is just awful.
Why couldn’t Obama have at least picked someone attractive??? (because he’s gay?)
Lipstick, Pig, Mooshell.
I love the picture of Michelle and Barack at the Khalidi dinner. Her wire rim glasses and pumpkin orange silk jacket with a black blouse! Wow what style. Pre lip job and a hell of a lot of work done on her face. I can never find this picture on line when I go to look for it.
I cant find a lot of these pics on Google, period. No doubt they are trying to suppress images that dont live up to the “fashion ikon” spin created about the Foist Lady.
I would love to know the source so I can pull it up when I need too!
LOL. The resemblance is great!
oh heck, how about Grace Coddington! :)
Either way, it fits the country's current obsession with vampires, zombies, and the undead.
Or France's obsession with Marie Antoinette:
I thought the whole idea of making a fashion icon our Ambassador to France started with Pamela Harriman, but Ben Franklin was a pretty trendy guy as well.
