GOP: Obama 'Bullying' Charities into Backing Tax Hike on Wealthy
breitbart ^ | december 8, 2012 | Wynton Hall

On Friday, the Obama Administration sought to teach the nonprofit world the same lesson during a White House gathering of charitable officials, say Republicans, when charities were bullied into supporting higher taxes on the wealthy to avoid losing vital deductions for charitable contributions.

“Today, the White House chose to mislead and scare America’s charitable giving community, using them as pawns in an effort to achieve their tax hike proposal,” said Rep. Dave Camp (R-MI), the chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, and Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-UT), the ranking Republican at Senate Finance in a joint statement issued Friday. “This is abhorrent, wrong and needs to stop.”

The GOP leaders made their statement after the Obama Administration held a Friday White House meeting with several charitable officials and held a call with other nonprofits. Rep. Camp and Sen. Hatch said charitable officials contacted them with concerns after the White House meeting. The implication was clear: either support Mr. Obama’s tax hike on the rich or donations to your charity may no longer be tax deductible.

The White House strategy of fear and intimidation appears to be working.

Camp and Hatch are going to have to hit harder and more personally in order to get past the media blockade. Demonstrate by citing key democrat charitable contributions showing that they are not only cheapskates but that they believe government must be the chief donator to NGOs and the reasons for it. Setting radical policies NGOs must follow to get it.....

I want to know how it will start. I think secession is the peaceful answer, but I doubt Obama wants peace.

Rep. Camp and Sen. Hatch condemned the White House’s “bullying” tactics and said they were reminiscent of the Obama Administration’s arm twisting during the Obamacare debate.

What a laugh! Who's going to stop him?

It makes sense to me if the rich must pay higher taxes then their charitable giving will suffer for it.

I’d bet that most people working for major charities already support taxing the wealthy. Whatever, when charities solicit me now, I tell them to get it from the Government.

Indeed. I tell them the same thing. I’ve done it in person at Dunkin’ Donuts (cashier was stunned when I turned down giving a $1 for a local charity and told her why) and at T.J. Maxx right after the election when they were asking for donations for Hurricane Sandy victims - again, I told her that the majority of voters believe it is the government’s job to give - let them get it from the government. These people are literally stunned. I’ve gone Galt completely on any charitable giving. Get it from obamaclaus. Elections have consequences.

Be sure to call in to the next PBS fund-raiser and donate 500 bucks on behalf of Bronco Bama and the Butt Sisters.

Of course you know the MSM will be all over these strong arm tactics. Yep. It will be headline news Monday morning in the NYT and their lead editorial will condemn the POTUS for his threatening these charities. Not.

What the legitimate charities need to do is send out a letter to their donors outlining exactly what was intimidated and threatened and ask their donors what they should do. We need to see which organizations cower in fear and support the tax hikes publicly and withhold our donations. Just remember, in more than a few cases, the leaders of these organizations are both in the 1% and many in the. 1% and supported this megalomaniac to the hilt in both elections. Now it is time for the elections to have some real consequences.

Sadly, my prediction of a second civil war could very well come true.

Even more sad is that we have come to the position that it may be required as the only way to set us back on track. Of course, with Biblical prophesy in mind, I would wager that it would fail and that the government would do a fast final transformation to tyranny.

So you do believe in light of Bible prophecy that it would fail then?

I believe that Biblical prophesy says we will degenerate into a cesspool and be "governed" by tyrants, so there is a good chance that a civil war would fail. I'm not saying that the good shouldn't oppose the bad, but we will never defeat Evil else He would not have told us how He is going to come back to do that job. I used to be a fight evil at every turn person, but the more I look at Biblical prophesy and talk with other who are grounded in the Bible, the more conflicted I become between my Human instincts and the Spiritual realm. I suppose that is the way it should be - our very humanity is a conflict with His holiness. Paul lamented that he did that which he would not do and did not do that which he would do. He understood that his humanity made him incapable of being 100% obedient and that was after meeting the risen Jesus on the road. If those that had actual contact with the living and the risen Jesus retained their human failings, the best we can do is to recognize and repent. Hence the saying, "The poor in spirit will inherit the kingdom of Heaven" - we will remain sinful in nature even after He washed away our sins and considers us holy and pure. Praise Him for His Love! God Bless.
