Iran's Revolutionary Guards has told the United States to "recount" the drones in its fleet as it insists that despite US denials it captured a small US unmanned spy plane over Gulf waters.
"Its capture is not an issue the Americans can easily refute," Guards spokesman Brigadier General Ramezan Sharif was quoted as saying.
"I advise the American commanders to recount their drones accurately," he said.
The Guards on Tuesday claimed to have recently captured a ScanEagle drone, a low-cost, short-range unmanned aircraft made by Boeing that measures 1.4 metres (4.5 feet) long and with a wingspan of three metres (10 feet).
They said the craft was seized in Iranian airspace but gave no details about how it was captured intact, nor where or when. State television showed images of what it said was the drone: a grey, unmarked vehicle suspended in a hangar.
A spokesman for the US Fifth Fleet based in the Gulf said none of its drones was missing, and a White House spokesman said there is "no evidence" the Iranian claim was true.

It’s a pretty terrible thing when our country lies to us so much we cannot tell whether to believe it or the Iranians.
In this case I kinda believe the Iranians, After all they already have one of our drones to copy.
Why do I not believe our government?
Maybe they can liberate us from our current oppressors.
The Scan Eagle has landed
“These are not the drones you’re looking for...”
I believe the Iranians over the White House or the U.S. media.
**WHO in the hell gave the damn order to NOT rescue our men in Benghazi?**
Whom to believe? The Iranians or the Obama Administration?
Though I utterly despise both, I’d have to conclude that the Persians — at least in this instance — are more credible than the Obots. But, then again, the Persians are probably more truthful than the Obots on a whole host of topics.
God help us!
My son flies a 3-meter RC sailplane. I also have a partially completed one myself. Doubt this "drone" is much more sophisticated than that. Hooo Hummm
from the last drone incident, Iran’s credibility rating is what I would bet my money on.
Maybe they used that LePage Glue Gun that Yossarian was talking about.
Since our President thinks 2 + 2 = 5, I think the Iranians might be on to something.
Ok, Mullahs, I admit it, it was MY drone.
Ya see in America everyone can have a drone.
Sure flying it over the Persion gulf was a
bit much, but heck I got some great pix of
your blue submarine, we usually paint ours yellow.
