Just the old commie canard of ‘Think globally, act locally’ in action.
Maya, you have the right to grow your own vegetables and bring your own lunch to school. Of course everyone else has the right to pick them. She’s going to need Food Subsidies with her degree in Ethnic Studies. I like the demand for cultural food. There are 100 languages spoken in my old high school.
I thought this article was about that fat Maya Angelou. Sorry. On to the relevant posts....
“...The Santa Cruz-born food justice advocate, now 20 and pursuing a double major (Ethnic Studies and Political Legal Economic Analysis) at Mills College in the East Bay...”
That said it all. No need to make any assumptions about a real education.
She’ll go far.
After all, look at the Obamadork/felon/cretin.
I love the mutually exclusive demands they have. For example they want locally grown food, but they want culturally affirming food. So if a Honduran is living in Ohio, he has the right to locally grown bananas. Good luck with that (unless he runs his SUV enough to warm the earth).
Another laugh worthy one is: "We need healthier school lunches that are implemented by schools with the ingredients decided on by the Youth." Yeah, the kids are really great at selecting healthy lunches when they decide on the ingredients. I suspect a civil war will occur when deciding whether to make french fries or tater tots out of their locally grown, organic, genetically diverse, culturally affirming farmers' market potatoes.
Ethnic Studies and Political Legal Economic Analysis? Not one course in agriculture, food science or nutrition, and she's going to dictate food justice? It's no wonder why Communists, throughout history, end up starving.
WOW was that ever in need of a barf alert.... And I did not even read the so-called “Food Bill of Rights”.
Honey, bless your little pea picking heart, humans have known since they first crawled out of the slimey ooze. How in the world I've managed to survive never living within walking distance of a grocery store, I'll never know. Amazing, huh.
I was like, Wow one of the reasons my family did not have many choices in the food we ate had a lot to do the corporations control of the food system. Suddenly, that was really clear to me. I just started thinking about itwhy some people have abundant access to healthy food and why some people dont.
I'm like, wow, you didn't pick up a snippet of healthy foods from your mama who's a chef at a farm to table restaurant? Yo yo, girl friend, ya know, like, dude, fast food and junk food costs more than healthy food made at home so all your whining about economics falls flat. Oh, and I'm also like, wow, your whole story doesn't hold water. Excuse me while I step out to the backyard garden and pick a fresh salad for dinner.
Good times. Good times.
