"...the SEIU is going to put boots on the ground in Carolina to capture those seats."

McCain and Romney should have taken 65% of the vote in 08 and 12, but each managed only 55%. With emigration to the state and changing demographics in age groups, South Carolina could be more purple that red in 2014.

She might appoint Tim Scott. Hmm. The only black in the Senate would be a Republican....

Yeah. wtc reminded me of that (see post 69).

I had hoped DeMint would have made a move for prez for the ‘12 election. He would have been an ideal choice. But nope. Probably a good thing - just as well. The political/media fix was firmly set for Nobama.

Well, his talent is being utterly wasted in the senate, and the GOP has destroyed their party.

They are ****ing done.

I hope that Senator DeMint’s resignation doesn’t mean that he stops being a national conservative leader. He’s bigger than the Heritage Foundation.

I think that we need to start the campaign for Gov. Haley to name Congressman Tim Scott to replace Senator DeMint.

Third Party?????

Nope.......It won’t work and would just split the vote unless the dems had a similar situation, which they won’t have for some time to come.....

No.....no third.....just a huge fight....

He’s in the Senate. Boehner is in the House.

Give me a break.

DeMint can do great things at Heritage.

Providence holds great promise, there is a reason.

I would like to see HECK NO! But...she is up for re-election as Gov. in 2014 and it looks like it will be a tough fight. She has low poll numbers (around 30%) and has many problems the Dems will hang like a millstone on her come election time (SC SSN being Hacked). There are already several strong Democrats stating they will run against her in 2014. So I guess it is possible if she wants to remain Gov. bad enough she could get the Strongest looking Dem. out of the way for the Gov. race.

Is it too cynical for me to suggest that he couldn’t refuse the pay raise?

Lindsay Grahamnesty’s probably shaking in his boots. He’s been trying to shore up his conservative credentials lately in anticipation of 2014.

Grahamnesty and Taxby Chambliss should be worried. I bet we’ll likely see Susan Collins retire or be primaried, and with King already in the senate, Charlies Summers could again be the republican nominee, or perhaps the current popular conservative governor.

I hope DeMint will also go after McConnell, Cornyn, Alexander, Cochrane and Enzi. Let them defend their pitiful conservative records.

"Any thoughts on Nikki Haley appointing herself?"

If she has any aspirations for higher office she might, as it could be the only way she can attain it. Haley has only a 38% approval rating in South Carolina. Caught up in a taxpayer data breech scandal. Though not directly responsible for the incident, it did happen on her watch.

Being at Heritage isn’t at all like being in office and from what I hear he offer from Heritage has been on the table for a long time. At least from when he was considering whether to run again or not several years ago.

As for being paid off to go, you don’t know the guy if you think he’s for sale.
