The real “Gun Culture” has no problem with gun violence.
The “hip hop culture”, which Bob is too chicken to point out, has a huge problem with guns and violence.

Excellent point.
I saw him on O'Reilly last night and he looked awful: scared, tentative and unconvincing. In. Over. His. Head.

I think you are right about that. I think it is the reason Costas has been so vehement in his denials about wanting to abrogate the 2nd Amendment. I think the culture he keeps bringing up, the one so prevalent in professional sports, is the Gangsta-Tatoo attitude but he can't say so. He remembers what happened to other white broadcasters who dared touch the racial third-rail in sports. To be charitable, he may have tried to use ‘gun culture’ as a surrogate(it's perfectly OK to belittle non-progressive white people, right?) but went to far by attempting to further insulate himself by using the words of a race baiting left wing loony.
