I have this idea....if we could government subsidize a massive amount of weed-growth in America, and just hand out marijuana to everyone, on a massive scale....then we’d smoke enough not to notice how bad our health was, and die earlier from ailments that were never noticed...then we’d save a ton of money on unnecessary medical treatment. I admit, it’s an idea under development, but I think it has bold opportunity.

Of course it will cost your employer 100X as much and lead to the people saving 1.5 billion to be laid off. But hey penny-wise and pound foolish is how the dims operate.......

Once again, the idea that schools are supposed to teach mathematics is something that would probably be good to start doing again.

Maybe consumers saved some money but producers got smoked. If "consumers" saved $1.5 billion and there are 310 MM people in the US and 40 MM do not have healthcare coverage, then consumers saved 1500 million divided by 270 million which is grand total of $5.56 each.

Did your healthcare go up more than $5.56?

Thought so.

The healthcare law attempts to address this by requiring insurers to spend at least 80 cents of every dollar they collect in premiums on medical care, rather than on administrative expenses...

So they have to collect larger premiums in order to make up the lost administration costs?

The average cost of an employer-provided family health plan jumped 4% to $15,745 between 2011 and 2012, a cost shared by employers and employees, according to an annual survey released in September by the Kaiser Family Foundation and the Health Research & Educational Trust.

So...which is true? Did the average cost jump 4% or did consumers save $1.5 billion? Is this Democrat math where the cost WOULD HAVE jumped by 1.5 billion more (says Ms. Chloe) if it weren't for Obama's wonderful plan?

I imagine the writer of this article actually believes the cashiers at Kohl’s when they look at your receipt and say you saved “X” amount of dollars. Not sure how obamacare saved us any money when my son’s premium went from about $165 to $270 every month, that 40 dollar rebate didn’t make up for the extra $1,200 a year hike in premium.

That works out to a whopping savings of $4.76 per person or $19.05 for a family of 4. Definitely work the cost of an extra $1,200 per year in increased premiums.

In the military one of the pervasive buzz phrases is “to save money”... that something will be eliminated in order to [ostensibly] cut waste/abuse. Of course the purpose of the phrase is to plant the false notion that the government is trying to be wise and responsible in how it spends the taxpayers’ money.

The accurate translation is really “we are wasting just as much if not more than before, but we need to pump more money into boondoggles like diversity and green projects.” Or simply, that the current crop of bureaucrats needs to justify their jobs by rearranging the deck chairs, to be moved back again when that scheme doesn’t work, and then back and forth until eternity (or an iceberg).

When the government claims to “save money” is it always heralded as a good thing, but when a corporation attempts to cut costs/save money it is demonized by the government as the epitome of evil and greed for making the little guy suffer.

I expect this this tactic to be used heavily as Obamacare cuts access to care and the quality of doctors and services necessarily plummets. We will be be told how virtuous our government is for “saving money”, while the “little guys” are dropping like flies. Meanwhile that evil Wal-Mart is killing people by having them work holidays...
