Dot Com bubble *pop*, mortgage bubble *pop* ==> Carbon bubble. The financial world requires ever larger bubbles to inflate to keep the game working. What is missing right now are sufficient assets to back up the gajillions of dollars in existing debt. “They” are trying to create a new asset class to fill the void. The added benefit is that carbon trading just happens to allow total societal control.

Just MHO as a lowly electrical engineer with no formal financial knowledge.
