Your statement is wrong, but it is not your fault for believing so. You are a victim of a three card monty from Boehner and the boys. The Republicans do support a tax hike, they just don’t support a tax hike in the RATE. Boehner has come out for a limit on deductions with the support of his members. This means that on April 15, those targeted tax payers are going to pay more in taxes. In plain English that means a raise in taxes. The Democrats have called for a raise in the rate. Again come April 15, those over $250,000 will pay more. They all agree that those over $250,000 are going to pay more, they are only fighting over the how. I’m of the opinion that if one class of people get a tax cut, all classes should get one, and if one class of people get hit than everybody should get hit. Thus I have signed on with Levin, Steyn, Carr for going over the cliff. At least this way the political class will be forced to actually cut government now, not some mythical time in the future.
For the record... I’m for going over the cliff! :)
No, no -- they'll never cut the crap as long as they're in office. You heard Obama set that pick, and he'll play it until his knees are broken and you stuff one going right over the top of him.
What you do, by refusing to play along or let Boehner play along (I'll say it again -- Boehner's just running away from the media firestorm they've stoked up for us after the "cliff", and he's trying to surrender without having to eat cheese in public), you force these guys out in the open, and they have to take responsibility for their own play. When the economy's roof comes in, they're the only ones standing there with an axe in their hand.
