Yes, Toys for Tots is a great way to ensure that a kid gets something to open on Christmas Day. I try to give at least two toys a week during this season of giving. It doesn’t need to be expensive. Especially for the younger ones. They don’t know or care what the cost. Just happy to have a gift.
We as kids never missed getting something for Christmas but I knew of some in my childhood neighborhood that did not because of the expense.
I was a military wife for 30 years. In the very early years, the biggest presents my son got at Christmas were from the VFW. Since then, with knowledge, I have made sure that other young sons of service men had ample presents. And my young son thought it was an awesome deal! He felt like Santa, even though he was six years old!
