They obviously expect the Republicans will cave on everything. I believe it was Sun Tzu who said, "Know your enemy". The Democrats have got the Republicans figured out pretty well.

I think the plan is to go over the fiscal cliff, blame the Republicans for a few months, then watch the Republicans cave in to tons of middle class taxes marketed as “taxes on the rich”.
