I’m inclined to agree with Newt on this.

Newt did say to cave short term to Dems to avoid an immediate crisis.

I’m tired of listening to Republicans negotiate against themselves. Wait to hear something from the executive branch about cuts, for crying out loud!

"Newt did say to cave short term to Dems to avoid an immediate crisis." Don't negotiate but cave short-term?! What kind of double-speak is that?! Oh yeah, the GOP bending over to take another one.

RE :”

What is short term? Four years?

Never understood the attraction to Gingrich. He talks tough, but in the end, he sells out like the rest of the liberal Republicans. They don't understand that, with the Dems, “compromise” means “capitulation.”

I listened to the entire interview twice. I didn't hear that what you posted. Newt said for them to not do any secret behind the door deals that was going on Stop it. No compromising on the liberal entitlements because he says what the dems want are more expansion of the bigger government system. He blamed both sides for this. he says this has been going for some time. He suggested they break the mess (so called artificial cliff) several references to this.. up in steps. Separate what will work and send it through to the Senate and let the senate dems come across as obstructionists, He said what will happen most likely, it will be another big government deal unless they hold firm. He warned House and Senate. He said to educate the public, that in 2013, the calendar should be full of investigations to show the public of all of the corruption and waste their government does. And, by doing so, people can understand why more spending should stop. He said there should be an investigation on the federal reserve/treasury. He was smart on everything with numbers/history-It very depressing to see the huge complex mess when both sides up there are so corrupt, it will be difficult to get anything done easy. It a big cluster. He said Obama won, has his mandate of higher taxes, growing the government but doesn't mean he has to get what he wants. He said we are a free society, we all have to work to get new people in to make changes.

He said from everything that he had read and been told, about this cliff, it was an artificial cliff.. that they could wait and break issues up into bills (things that were positive for the taxpayer, work on it with your principles) No rush to make one HUGE new bill for the dems getting more spending because the dems were just about bigger government spending, transferring wealth. He says this is not a bill for the American conservative taxpayer. He said they could put this on hold/extension so break up the mess that the dems sent them.

No Democrat wants to take responsibility for their own actions.
As then Spkr. Rep. Nancy Pelosi once said: We have to pass Obamacare to see what is in it.
And now Benghazi-Coward Obamas Democrats are saying: We have to go over Obamas Fiscal Cliff to see how far we fall financially.

If the GOP were any good, negotiation would be the correct course.
However, since the GOP is really the other wing of the “political elite” party the outcome of the political elites (socialists) negotiating with each other will be very bad. It will likely not include any meaningful spending cuts for fedgov.
So the best case scenario for the USA...is to go over the cliff.
Slash spending at all costs, because that is what is killing us.
Congress can then pass a sweeping tax reform bill, while leaving spending levels alone, at the new lower levels. The House of representatives would have complete control in this case, because tax bills must originate in the House of Representatives.
Does this involve the House to have a spine? Well-sort of, because the gutsy part requires inaction, and even a spine of jelly can perform inaction.

Given Newt’s statements about fiscal cliff, is fiscal cliff just another government-manufactured crisis like mortgage crisis?
