We need a new party.

Why???

Our two major political parties have already abjectly failed. Why do you think a new party could succeed, in what looks very like a post-political world?

I mean, when you have chaos in the streets; when you have massive theft of citizens' private property and nobody so much as gives a peep about it; when the gangsta "Chicago Way" has utterly infiltrated the institutions of government — how can you reasonably believe a "new party" is any kind of answer when it is the culture itself that has become utterly corrupt?

The political parties, at bottom, are the reflection of the moral core of the people. On that score, Tip O'Neill was the last honest Democrat, and Ronald Reagan the last honest Republican. Both men had principles they were willing to defend. But today, what person of either party defends any principle whatsoever beyond the burning need to be reelected to office? (At great taxpayer expense.)

Do I think a new "third party" would be beneficial, or effective in articulating and securing the well-being of American citizens? Under the conditions of the sheer moral collapse of our society, I very strongly doubt it.

If the people are disordered, if they are "bad," do not expect the parties they belong to, or the governments they elect to be any better than they are.

So, meanwhile, I highly recommend the GOP walk away from "negotiations" with the President. He will only coopt them into sharing blame for the policy failures that he is (deliberately) creating. I say: Let him and his party clearly OWN IT ALL, so the people who voted for him finally understand what they voted for. Maybe this is the only way they can learn anything new, i.e., from the impending total melt-down of our economic system, bound to create incalculable suffering for themselves.

BTW, FWIW, I take this "post-political era" stuff seriously. The crux shifts to an existential, not political, gravitas.

I realized this back in the summer of 2010, which led me to resign from the Republican party, and change my voter registration from GOP to Unenrolled (in Massachusetts, that means Independent).

I am a constitutional, economic, and social conservative. NO party protects these interests of mine, these days. Nobody cares about "principles" anymore. It's every man for himself, under this "divide-and-conquer" president....

I do not have any reason to believe that a "new" party would have any impact whatsoever on the future well-being of our constitutional Republic.

IF, that is, it is true that we are indeed living in a post-political world — as Bill Whittle (among others) has suggested.

Our constitutional Republic has been utterly inverted: We the People now work full-time for the government, not the other way around. We are virtual slaves in our own country. Does anybody notice? Does anybody really care, so long as he continues to get his freebies at somebody else's expense?

It's all a Big Lie and, like any Big Lie, is doomed to fail. There will be many, many victims.

So, I recommend that Speaker Boehner call for a vote of 0Bama's "package of doom," with instructions to Republicans members only to vote PRESENT themselves. Ditto in the Senate. "We're" going to lose this fight anyway; so just let Captain Zero and his cohorts unequivocally "own" this crap.

Experience is the best teacher. Lots of us are going to have to learn the Truth the hard way.

Sorry to disagree with you, Cringing Negativism Network; but I can't do otherwise, based on direct knowledge and experience, not to mention the lessons of human history, going back millennia.

Thank you so much for writing!

betty: “when you have chaos in the streets; when you have massive theft of citizens’ private property and nobody so much as gives a peep about it; when the gangsta “Chicago Way” has utterly infiltrated the institutions of government — how can you reasonably believe a “new party” is any kind of answer when it is the culture itself that has become utterly corrupt?”

Spirited: Agreed. Since what is wrong with our society is spiritual, a new ‘political’ party going on and on about issues, partisan politics, strategies, messages, coalitions, etc. will solve nothing.

The spiritual illnesses-—i.e., Universal Evolutionism, philosophical materialism, secularism, subjectivism-— killing our nation killed Orthodox Russia. The disaster that has befallen us, said Solzhenitsyn, has happened because we have forgotten God.

Over eighty years ago Rev. C. Leopold Clarke, a lecturer at a London Bible college foresaw the breakup of Christendom due to widespread acceptance of evolution.

Evolution said Clarke,

“(is) the greatest and most active agent of moral and spiritual disintegration. It is a battering-ram of unbelief—a sapping and mining operation that intends to blow Religion sky-high....Already a tremendous effect, on a wide scale, has been produced by the impact of this teaching—an effect which can only be likened to the … collapse of foundations. … The faith of the Christian Church and of the average Christian has had, and still has, its foundation as much in the [truth] of the account of Creation, as in that of the person of Christ …It is high time that the Church separated herself from the humiliating entanglement attending her desire to be thought up to date, and to escape the charge of ignorance. What, after all, have the custodians of Divine Revelation to do making terms with speculative Biology, which has, and can have, no message of comfort or help to the soul?”

Clarke likened evolution to the teaching of another spirit and added,

“...of course...the “falling away” of Christendom from the faith of God could not proceed while the Bible held its rightful place in the judgment of the generation. It has been displaced, as was foretold [2 Thess. 2:11], by the invasion of the modern intellect with the “strong delusion that shall believe a lie.” There is no evidence against the Bible, but there is the violent prejudice of the modern spirit and the modern cast of mind—the spirit that reckons God Himself to be out of date.” (Clarke, C. L., Evolution and the Breakup of Christendom, Marshall, Morgan & Scott Ltd, London, 1930, 271 pages)

In “Obama’s Soviet Mistake,” Russian writer Xavier Lerma writes that President Vladimir Putin could never have imagined anyone so ignorant or so willing,

“…to destroy their people like Obama much less seeing millions vote for someone like Obama. They read history in America don’t they? Alas, the schools in the U.S. were conquered by the Communists long ago and history was revised thus paving the way for their Communist presidents.” (Pravda.ru, 19.11.2012 )

Russia lost its’ civil war with the Communists and millions of Russians, including around 30,000,000 Christians,

“..suffered torture and death for almost 75 years under the tyranny of the United Soviet Socialist Republic.” However, “Russians survived with a new and stronger faith in God and ever growing Christian Church.” (ibid)

As their faith in God grows stronger together with an ever growing, vibrant Christian Church, our supposedly “enlightened, progressive, secular, evolutionary scientific” culture withers on the vine in tandem with a Church falling away into heresy, apostasy and apathy.

No, a new political party is definitely not the answer!

That is the heart of it, dearest sister in Christ!

Thank you so very much for your wonderful essay-posts!
