His comments prove he is a moron. First thing you say to the cops when something like this happens is “I was in fear for my life” maybe burst into tears. Instead he talks about his “finishing shot”? Whack job idiot.

While saying I was in fear for my life to the police would have been much better, I might suggest that better yet would be “no comment” until I have my attorney present. Remember anything you say can and will most likely be used against you. Just a friendly suggestion.
