I'm not so sure. To me - phobia means fear of something. And to that end; I've always been homophobic. Not that I'm afraid of any fag making a pass at me, but I fear their plans, goals and objectives which are destroying our culture and our country.
The left's use of the term, "phobia" is meant to diminish the person who speaks out against anything the left embraces. In their (pea) minds, when someone speaks out against, for instance, Islam or homosexual conduct, they do so because that person "FEARS" that particular group or behavior to the degree that the fear becomes all consuming. Thus, it's not simply a fear of something, such as a person who has a fear of spiders. The level of fear, in the (pea) mind of the liberal, is a significant social detriment to the person experiencing the fear. This warped use of phobia by the left is meant to suggest that the person with such "FEAR" does indeed have a mental illness, at least in the liberal mind.
I fear our government is taking this nation in a direction which will result in the demise of our Constitution. If I had some type of phobia, my fear would result in a form of paralysis. In actuality, the fear that liberals attempt to shackle Conservatives with does not result in paralysis, but action. This is why they attempt to diminish and marginalize all of us.
The whacked-out self-haters on the left have Stockholm Syndrome. That’s why they so readily side with those who want them dead. It’s sick, really.
