A man who killed two teenagers in his home in Little Falls on Thanksgiving Day told investigators he shot and wounded the two at close range before "finishing" them with shots to the head.
Byron David Smith, 64, was charged Monday, Nov. 26, in Morrison County District Court with two counts of second-degree murder without premeditation in the deaths of Nicholas Brady, 17, and his cousin Haile Kifer, 18.
Smith claims Brady and Kifer broke into his home and he was "fearful" they had weapons, according to the criminal complaint.

What a psycho. He deserves whatever he gets.
I cannot imagine any set of laws allowing a “finishing shot” of a wounded helpless criminal. Deadly force should only be used as a last resort because even if you are allowed to use deadly force under criminal laws, you might face civil claims that will make your life and your family's life hell. Still using deadly force to save your own life or that of someone you care about is a civil right in this country.
The two teenagers broke into his home to steal something to support their drug habit.
The first shots were legit, the finishing shots were murder.

Disgusting. That was simply an execution, especially his description of the murder of the female. Then he sat there with the bodies for a full day because he said, “didn’t want to bother the cops on a holiday”.
When our rights to self defense are lost, guys like him will be what made it easy for the dems to do it.
Some criminals break into YOUR Home: Do any of you wait for the criminals to pull a gun out and use it on you or do you stop them with a gun? If you don’t have a high caliber gun what other option do you have but to make sure they can’t pull a gun on you? And this guy is toast now.
Aaaaw, poor kids. I bet they won’t be committing home invasion and other crimes.
I think of it this way: this little “tragedy” was actually a cleanup where 3 criminals were taken off the streets.

The man is lying. The investigators will eventually release the whole story. This man would save his community a lot of time and trouble by hanging himself in prison.

Where in the story was the amount of land mentioned?
(and yes, it really has nothing to do with two burglars being murdered.)
From his actions the shooter appears to be deranged.
Do you know more about it?
Trespassers will be shot.
Survivors will be shot again.
But really, this guy is abnormal.
Straight up, walking up to a wounded 18 year old girl and putting a round in her head, fry the worthless bastard, he ain’t human.
The photograph accompanying the article shows the home sitting on what appears to be at least a one acre lot. If one is from an urban area, a rural property probably looks like "a lot of land".
Looks like a normal small farm piece to me.
