Interesting article about paid trolls. People who are given the job title "Online Communications Associate" and are paid to go on websites and provide disinformation, personal insults and pro-Obama propaganda.

I have run into several people on FR who fit that description. I have seen people use name calling, personal attacks and no logic or reason to their conversation. I don't know if they were paid or not.

“moderators have blocked from WND forums participants who post abusive language aimed at angering or otherwise insulting forum members, WND authors, management and staff.’

WND should prepare for the obligatory aclu lawsuit.

This has been going on since AT LEAST 2008. Andrew Breitbart nailed them in this column published in the Washington Times in March 2009:

BREITBART: Online activists on the right, unite!

The devision and supporting of the weakest candidite (Romney) was clear evidence of this.

There are plenty of “moderate” trolls working the forums as well. In fact they were starting a good many threads here at FR during the primary season.

They spent a lot of time being concerned about the conservative candidates.

Paid left wing trolls have been a problem on conservative sites* for well over a decade.

Many are very overt and don’t hide the fact that they are on a suicide mission to disrupt and cause problems.

Others are very covert and use nuances like “this worries me as a conservative” whenever their beloved left wing gets nailed/identified in lies or worse.

Some on this site are sleepers and only appear before elections to slander and lie about our candidates. They often have a good back up group that gets notified by pings or freepmail to join in the bashing fun.

*Before I joined FR, the paid pretend to be trolls had become a severe problem on another site. A conservativ IT guy apparently hacked the site and got the email addresses of the offenders.

Then, he sent copies of their emails to the owners of the companies they worked for managers if they worked for some form of government. I don’t know if they got fired. I do know that they stopped posting their poison, very quickly after their bosses or managers were notified.

Our mods do a good job with most of the disturbers. Often the disturbers are Zapped before the Viking Kitties sink their claws into the vermin.

These lefty trolls-for-hire are all over the place.

It’s so obvious that they’re paid by Media Matters or Move.On. They spew their pathetic little script of misinformation and righteous indignation. I used to get angry and want to respond. Now I just laugh.

But hey, it’s a job. Probably the only one these sad little trolls have ever had.

The Raleigh News & Observer’s blogger Nazi’s are a great example of how “free speech” works in a libtard world. I’ve been kicked off their site about 10 times under various names for simply defending myself against people who engaged in name calling and personal attacks. I never “attacked” anybody unless they attacked me first. And I never used profanity. Yet the libtards I was counteracting would get a free pass for almost anything short of a death threat.

I once got kicked off for giving examples of the name calling and threats libs made against Michele Malkin. They absolutely will not tolerate the truth if it exposes the liberal mindset for intolerance and hate.

I think the pro-Obama stuff would stand out but the name calling and personal attacks could be Dems or just authentic zealot nut-bags.

If I was going to troll a Dems site I would post there that the whole system is rigged and so there was no point in voting anymore, after a R victory like 2004.

I would demand that the Dems in congress be so aggressive that they p most voters off, tell them to demand a bunch of crazy stuff like block the R winner from being confirmed.

And the trick is to walk that fine line between the aggressive lib and the total psycho who gets booted off. And I have seen a few booted off for calling most of the other members traitors or cowards, and calling for say racial reparations in a bill in posted vanities.

I have run in to them too, on Topix.com. They begin by posting the Dem. talking points for the day, written to appear as though the “local” poster wrote them as his or her own thoughts. The same person has an endless arsenal of names they use to give the appearance of strength in numbers.
When the talking points are refuted with facts, they resort to name calling and vulgarity, or my personal favorite, insisting my information source is unacceptable.

I visit a lot of different Conservative sites. During the McCain campaign, I was almost 100% sure that trolls were making it difficult or impossible to discussion anything. At that time, they would just make random replies. The amount of this diminished until the last campaign cycle. It then restarted with a lot more and longer posts. What frightens me is that after the election, I find it intensifying. At almost any Conservative site, there is always a liberal trashing whatever the conservatives say. I see a clear pattern. If someone says anything negative about Obama, the troll keeps post trash about Bush/and or Republicans. Liberals believe that they have the right to everything, and that conservatives are less equal than they are. They are shameless bullies and not very bright. But they have an enduring sense of superiority and entitlement. They are winning. We need wake up to their tactics, or we will lose, everything.

The evidence for trolls’ being active on Conservative sites has been obvious for quite some time. Thank you for providing the details at WND, and all on one page. Excellent.

Thank you for the ping, Moose07.

Hi, Darks.

I have had many encounters with these posters on Yahoo, Politico, Fox (which doesn’t show me the comments sections anymore), and the Breitbart sites.

They are rude, full of lies, and will stalk you if you beat them enough. I had a couple of them stalking me from news article to news article. They must have been allowed to view hidden user info too because I don’t show them my state/location yet one or two were able to see that info even though I had it blocked (according to the privacy settings on Yahoo).

Yes, you are correct. I’ve encountered a couple of them on FR as well. They usually will attack a poster as a newbie if they see you have a newer account. That is usually the first thing they try to use to discredit a poster on FR. From there they will move on to personal attacks.

Heck. I even have outed one on a CAS pro-gun forum.

They should be horsewhipped. Too bad I don’t have a horse.

Does this sound like anyone you have encountered on FR? I think there are hundreds, perhaps thousands, of paid trolls out there. Other than name calling and personal insults they seem to accuse or imply racism a lot. They also claim to be aware of information which does not exist. They also cite MSM sources as irrefutably true and accuse any other information as being proof of you being mentally unbalance or a nutcase.

Oh well if that is all it takes I could be raking in the money.

Well done. Here are the test results: You are a horrible person. I'm serious, that's what it says: "A horrible person." We weren't even testing for that.

Don't let that horrible-person thing discourage you. It's just a data point. If it makes you feel any better, science has now validated your birth mother's decision to abandon you on a doorstep.

Most people emerge from suspension terribly undernourished. I want to congratulate you on beating the odds and somehow managing to pack on a few pounds.

As an impartial collaboration facilitator, it would be unfair of me to name my favorite member of your team. However, it's perfectly fair to hint at it in a way that my least favorite probably isn't smart enough to understand. Rhymeswithglue. Orange, you are doing very well. All right, so that last test was seriously disappointing.

Apparently, being civil isn't motivating you, so let's try it her way, all right, fatty? Adopted... fatty! Fatty, fatty no parents?

I feel awful about that surprise. Tell you what, let's give your parents a call right now. [phone dialing and ringing; in a stranger, lower voice] The birth parents you are trying to reach do not love you. Please hang up. [Dial tone; normal voice] Oh, that's sad. But impressive. Maybe they worked at the phone company.

You look ugly in that jumpsuit. That's not my opinion; it's right here on your fact sheet. They said on everyone else it looked fine, but on you, it looked hideous. But still what does an old engineer know about fashion? Oh, wait, it's a she. Still, what does she know about - oh, wait. She has a medical degree. In fashion. From France.

I’ve seen lots and lots, the really crude ones seem to eventually get banned, but others who are a bit more subtle (but obvious if you look at more than two comments of theirs) still stink up the place.
