Healthcare workers are well aware of the special requirements their field has. They know its a requirement.

Exactly. In addition to influenza shots, it is also advisable if not required by many hospitals and clinics that healthcare workers get vaccinated for Hepatitis, Measles, Mumps, and Rubella, Varicella, TB, Pertussis, Typhoid Fever, and Vaccinia. This is not only for the protection of patients but for the protection of the healthcare workers themselves and to maintain a healthy healthcare workforce in the event of an outbreak of any of those diseases. And imagine what would happen if you go to the hospital for life saving surgery and half of the staff is out sick with the flu or something even worse. Imagine a sick healthcare worker spreading the flu or Hep or Measles, Mumps, Rubella, imagine a unimmunized nurse or nurses aid sick with Rubella working in a high risk maternity ward, someone with Pertussis working in the children’s ward or someone with TB working in the cafeteria.

Advisable is not the same as required.

TSA cares about your safety.

EPA cares about the environment.

CDC cares about your health.

Just keep repeating that. CDC is also really big on the gun ban bandwagon.

Have you taken their suggestions wrt that?

FWIW.....I'm a Health Care Professional. Been one since 89-90....All the stuff you listed...I agree with. But not the Flu vaccine. The flipping vaccine doesn't stop some numbskull coming to work when they are sick with the flu.

When I started I had to prove I'd been vaccinated as a child...for the usual things. Then of course had to be tested for TB...( Which is at least every year...) Okay I'm fine with all that....

Then came along the Hep "B" vaccination...and I'm okay with that too. Cause it ain't every year...

But I've a problem with them continuing to poke and prod me with more and more vaccinations, and tests. I've never taken the flu shot...It's not mandatory yet where I've worked. I've not had the flu for years. But seen a lot of folks get sick after taking it....

I'm probably a friggin walking petri dish for colonized bugs...at this point. But I rarely get as much as a cold. I've had pt's pee on me, poop on me, puke on me, and hack loogie's in my eye's.......

RIGHT NOW...it's NOT a requirement where I work..and I am a Health Care Worker.

BTW....the CDC could give a flying @#%^#$^ about my health...and they ain't looking out for you either.

You're a doctor and you're clueless as to how a vaccination works? A vaccination protects ONLY the person who is vaccinated. It does not prevent someone from carrying and spreading the virus to another individual.

In other words, an immunized health care worker is just as likely to spread a virus. And I seriously doubt that a health care worker with Rubella or Pertussis would be "on the job".
