Short version: Republicans don’t fight. Who wants to elect a loser? When I was a kid I was short, fat, near-sighted, clumsy, and Jewish in a virulently anti-Semitic town. Gangs of thugs would line-up to beat me on the way home from school. My nose was usually broken and my eyes blackened. I was left unconscious by the side of the road after being beaten. My dad had a simple answer: fight back even if you lose. No bully wants a bloody nose or a black eye. So I did. And the beatings stopped. Cold. I got a reputation as a crazy kid who wouldn’t back-down from a fight no matter the size of the opponent.
Thank you for sharing. This is a great story of adversity and the lesson that I take is just make it very unpleasant for someone to abuse you. Winning, in these situations, is just getting them off your back so you can get back to doing your job in peace.
