oh bull hockey. Emotions are a trap and psychologists and their focus on “feelings” have caused a lot of damage. Those who are not dictated to by their emotions are immensely better able to copy than those who are ruled by them. Enjoying their lives, sheesh. eyeroll

I suppose it’s easy to be “stoic” when you know you’ll get caned for spitting on the sidewalk or chewing gum. Or tossed in jail for what in other countries are minor offenses.
City life makes everybody stoic. Manhattan commuters aren't exactly a barrel of laughs, either.
A friend of ours was a technical trainer...he’d traveled throughout the Far East teaching classes. He’s always said that those in Singapore are the most difficult to teach or establish a rapport with...they give no feedback, so you never have an idea if you’re getting through or not, or if they’re understand and/or liking the classes. Evidently China has much more affable students.
