Interesting story:
Ed Anzalone, the longtime Jets mascot who does the J-E-T-S chant in the stands, writes in the Metro: “I decided to leave (the Jets-Pats game before halftime) Thursday because the confrontations with other Jets fans have become more common, even though most Jets fans are fantastic. This is an indication of how society has lost and is continuing to lose respect for one another ... I will attend games as usual, just not as Fireman Ed.”
Stay classy Jets fans.
Thanks for the lowdown on Newark. It sounds like Springfield, MA - throw gobs tax dollar$ at it and it still is a perennial dump. The recent highlight of that area was a strip joint (and other “businesses”) that exploded due to a gas leak:
Whether it’s Newark, Camden (which I thought was nice, but I understand what you type), or Springfield, dumps are dumps. And all the social engineering (with our dollar$) can’t and won’t fix it.
An NFL Haiku for Monday (from a 49ers fan):
Colin Kaepernick
Looks like he can play, and well
Adieu Alex Smith
somehow I cannot develop a taste for poetry that doesn’t rhyme. Even Freeper poetry. But at least it encourages be to develop new interests and leave the political controversial world behind.
So long old battlefield
a new path awaits
what we will find
depends on one’s creative or dirty mind
Northern NJ has plenty of Jets fans (along with Giants fans); south Jersey is Eagles/Phillies fans. Jets fans have a crappy reputation here in NJ.
Camden is probably worse than Newark (it is more like Detroit); you can drive for blocks through abandoned neighborhoods. The ugly truth is that the only way these areas get fixed (along the lines of what is happening in Jersey City) is that they have to send all of the permanently-dependent Obama voters somewhere else. People with money don’t want to live anywhere near them, as borne out in Asbury Park’s “revival” - they tried to attract gays there, but when they realized the Obama voters were only blocks away without any walls or moats protecting them it flopped. As a result, Asbury Park is featured on a ghost town website...
Definitely an awkward situation for the 49ers now at QB.
Alex Smith=Drew Bledsoe?
