Supermarket boss shoots employee (Portugal)

The manager of a Faro-based supermarket chain today shot an employee, wounding him in the arm.

The incident occurred about 05.00a.m. at a warehouse in Galvanas that services the ‘Algartalhos’ supermarket chain. It is thought that the employee was caught with an accomplice stealing stock. The manager saw two employees, and, in breach of disciplinary procedures, fired at one of them, winging him.

The victim was transported to hospital in Faro, the entrepreneur has gone missing and is being sought by the Judicial Police.

Interesting story from Portugal. Also, a RARE story. How often does one read stories in the U.S. of the supervisor shooting an employee? Sometimes I wonder what really goes on in society as the MSM doesn't accurately report the news anymore. I found out so much more about what is really happening from reading Free Republic and Drudge than anywhere else.

Yes, this is unusual. Wouldn’t you think the Employee Handbook should specify that both employees should have been shot, rather than singling out just one? And did policy call for a “winging” or was this a case of bad aim?
