WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) - First-time claims for state unemployment benefits fell sharply in the latest week but remained elevated due to Hurricane Sandy, the Labor Department reported Wednesday. The number of initial claims in the week ending Nov. 17 fell 41,000 to 410,000.

Claims in the previous week were revised to an increase of 90,000 to 451,000 compared with the initial estimate that they rose 78,000 to 439,000.

Good News! The weekly chocolate ration has just been increased from 30 to 20 grams!

And last week's unemployment rate has been adjusted upwards by 12,000 compared to the estimate, to make this week's decline in unemployment seem even bigger!

(Did these numbnuts not notice that the level *had been* about 330,000, before the election?)

Oh well, as the sluts who voted for Obaama all agree: "Math class is tough!"

Cheers!

What happens to the numbers when ALL of the people who can’t find jobs don’t - and give up for good? Do we go to 0% unemployment, then?

Such mind-boggling CR@P. I loathe our Congress and current _Resident.

I could have sworn there were 100,000+ layoffs around the country the day after the election.

All those people found other jobs? Or have they just not filed yet?

There usually is a lag of 1-2 months between when layoffs are announced and when the workers actually leave their job.

"There usually is a lag of 1-2 months between when layoffs are announced and when the workers actually leave their job."

By the time those hit the books, the massive number on federal unemployment extensions will expire on Dec 29, 2012, offsetting those being laid off after the elections since these individuals will not be considered unemployed. What a farce.

We have a winner. For the next 6 months to a year look for them to blame Sandy. In that time frame look for them to find another natural disaster to blame.

Keeping in line with the mission statement of the second term of the Obama administration:

"Chaos, panic, and disorder. Our job here is done."
