I hate those Dem congressional Murphys. They rise out of primordial ooze every two years to run against and defeat Republican incumbents in evenly divided districts. We got rid of two of them in 2010, but the CT Murphy held on, and this year the CT Murphy won a Senate seat while a new FL Murphy (with the same name as the PA Murphy defeated two years ago) beat West in FL-18. If I could get rid of either RAT Kennedys or RAT Murphys from Congress, I’d let those inbred, gargantuan-toothed drunkards stick around and send the Murphys packing.

And I agree, rematches for all three black conservative Republicans narrowly defeated this year. I still have Senate aspirations for West (I wanted him to jump into the Senate race against Bill Nelson even before the redistricting map came out), but there won’t be a seat available until, at the earliest, 2016 (and then only if Marco Rubio forgoes reelection to run for president).

Mia Love will be a Senator someday as well, hopefully in 2018 when Hatch retires; I hope that having served only two terms in the House instead of three terms won’t hurt her chances or cause her to defer to Jason Chaffetz.

as the great-grandson of Mary Murphy, I resemble that remark.

I just realized that three weeks ago we were only 12,000 votes away from yet another freaking liberal Democrat Murphy beating a Republican in an evenly divided district: http://www.electmarkmurphy.com/

The NY-11 (Staten Island and Bensonhurst) appears to have been narrowly carried by Obama in 2012 despite voting narrowly (under the new lines) for McCain in 2008—I think it was one of only three CDs in the nation that swung from McCain to Obama (two of the three Hispanic CDs in South Florida were the other two). I’m sure that Hurricane Sandy was the main reason: turnout in Staten Island was atrociously low, and I guess more Republicans stayed home. Had Mark Murphy beaten Mike Grimm, it would have been almost as painful of a loss as Patrick Murphy beating Allen West in FL-18.

We need a 28th Amendment: No Democrat Murphys in Congress.
