THE Prime Minister will today declare Britain is at “war” in the global battle for prosperity and must treat it in the same way as fighting HITLER.

TOPICS: Foreign Affairs; United Kingdom
KEYWORDS:
In WW2, Britain had many allies fighting against Hitler. If Prime Minister Cameron seeks to compare the times, today Britain is isolated when he speaks of: war in the global battle for prosperity.

Evil empire based on socialism forming on the continent: CHECK.

Middle class being hollowed out globally: CHECK.

I don’t think it’s going to be merely an ‘economic’ war, though it will certainly start that way. The coming Japanese Hyperinflation will light many banked-up fires.

So, why "HITLER" all of a sudden?...

U.K. Seen Shrinking This Quarter Amid Triple-Dip Risk: Economy
Britain’s economy may shrink this quarter and the risk has increased that the country will succumb to its first triple-dip recession since records began almost six decades ago, according to a survey of economists.

Banks may shrink for good as layoffs near 160,000
A Reuters analysis of job cuts announced by 29 major banks showed the layoffs were much bigger in Europe than in Asia or the United States. That is a particular blow to Britain where the finance industry makes up roughly 10 percent of the economy.

UK finance bonuses to plummet as London loses ground
Yet the impact of the squeeze on the sector goes further than bonus payments and the researchers also said employment in London's banks, brokerages and other financial sector firms - collectively known as the City - will keep shrinking. They said this would allow rival centre Hong Kong to overtake London by size in the next three years.

That’s the problem with socialists: They see wealth as a ‘zero sum’ equation. In order for someone to have more, someone must have less. When they run out of local ‘rich’, they try to conquer the wealth of another country.

The really don’t understand that wealth is created, and that everyone can benefit.

The world needs a lesson. It’s volunteering for destruction globally. In a future “green” hell perhaps 20-40 years from now $100 won’t get you a pound of coffee unless you grow it yourself. Everything civilized humanity strove for will be sacrificed on a sharia-colored altar of collectivism. I may well have lived the last good life.

I don’t think it’s over, I know it’s over.

It’s an insult.

A battle to fight for socialist programmes, excessive welfare, layabouts, state funded abortion, luxury items for prisons and disgusting expenses claims by the pigs in parliament.

We are royally screwed in this country, and it is because of people like David Cameron.

I despise him.

It was a ruse. They were actually led into Room 101.

And just exactly what was the value of good and services the US donated to Britian during WW2?

And they expect us to do it again?

The war began in 1939. The alliance didn’t form until 1942.

The beginning takes a while

Jimmy Carter and MEOW - the moral equivalent of war. LOL.

Sad that the “conservative” here talks like a liberal of 40 years ago.

No, no, no, it’s clearly all about you if you can glean that bizarre response from what I wrote. None of my business but you might consider no longer snorting your meds

The war began in 1939. The alliance didn’t form until 1942.
Actually, under the table as it were, the alliance began in 1940. Starting before the fall of France, and accelerating afterward. Churchill warned FDR about the tenuousness of the British position, and FDR took that to heart enough to have put Bill Knudsen - the former Ford executive who was responsible for building up Chevrolet from an also-ran into equality with Ford - in charge of organizing American war production and preproduction planning. Later, Churchill warned FDR that Britain could fall - and, if so, he could not speak for how his successors might find it necessary to allow Hitler to deploy the Royal Navy.
That was hardly a prospect to warm FDR’s heart. By the time of Pearl Harbor, Britain had long since sent “the crown jewels” of its military R&D over to America for production and - for example - Packard had already been making the Rolls-Royce Merlin aircraft engine under license for over a year.
The beginning takes a while
FDR - who as Under Secretary of the Navy had seen America’s WWI war production fail to send any appreciable materiel to Europe before the Armistace - called on Bernard Baruch as the only man who impressed him with organizational skills during WWI. But Baruch demurred because of age, and adamantly urged in favor of Knudsen. Knudsen told FDR that although America could indeed outproduce any country in the world, America needed an 18-month lead time to first build up its inventory of machine tools and then of factory space. Knudsen had accomplished that buildup - of production infrastructure, not of substantial quantities of actual war materiel - by the time of Pearl Harbor. Consequently when Germany declared war on the US, FDR was able to pledge the construction of 50,000 military aircraft - many of them bombers - in 1942. That was a stretch, but not out of the question.
